Job Summary
An Equipment Operator is a highly motivated self-starter individual with good problem-solving skills. Providing exceptional customer service with an eye towards safe and efficient work will lead you to success in this position.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Essential Functions:
· Safety and efficiently operate a variety of construction and excavating equipment.
· Safely and accurately load, secure, deliver and assist with unloading a variety of construction materials and equipment.
· Coordinate with Project Coordinator and Job Site Foreman to ensure jobs are accurately and efficiently executed
· Ensure trucks and equipment are kept clean and in good working order
· Communicates daily with Project Coordinator on the truck(s) schedule
· Assist with other activities related to pump truck and concrete conveyor customers
· Maintains required paperwork; documentation of all deliveries
· Behave in a professional and appropriate manner when performing all aspects of the job.
· Ensure individual compliance with MDOT rules and regulations, including maintenance of required logbooks, medical card, Class A CDL license, etc.
· Adhere to the Van Laan and OSHA safety standards at all times
Minimum Qualifications:
· Must have a high school diploma or GED.
· Class A driver’s license with an excellent driving record
· Three – Five years of experience operating various construction and excavation equipment
· Must demonstrate a commitment to exceptional customer service.
· Must be a person of high integrity with an excellent, can-do attitude.
· Possess basic construction knowledge. Knowledge of the concrete construction industry would be a plus, but not essential.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the job site.
· Ability to constantly stand, walk, see, talk, and hear.
· Ability to frequently lift, carry, stop/crouch, kneel, and reach.
· Must be able to carry and/or lift at least 50 pounds.
· Must be able to travel frequently.
