Job Description

MBS is hiring a Staff Accountant in Milford, OH. This position is full-time, temp to hire opportunity.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and financial records in QuickBooks Online
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and other accounts monthly
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoicing, payment processing, and customer billing
  • Administer payroll through Paychex Flex, including employee setup, PTO tracking, and payroll journal entries
  • Track and allocate costs to specific jobs, projects, or departments to support cost accounting and margin analysis
  • Monitor production costs, overhead, and labor expenses to ensure accurate job costing
  • Assist with monthly close
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Prepare reports for management on spending trends, job profitability, and cost control opportunities
  • Ensure financial records are audit-ready and support external CPA with tax filings and reporting

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in accrual accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting concepts and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Familiarity with public accounting practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform detailed account analysis effectively.
  • Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with minimum of 2+ years experience
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Payroll processing, and Excel required
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost allocation methods for manufacturing
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and confidentiality in handling financial data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to move or lift to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
  • Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Communication skills.
